Parkrun report 15th December 2018

Parkrun summary from 15th December 2018 and I assume the weather was cold, wet and windy at all venues around our area.

Beginning at QE Country Park for a change where Fiona Cfb made her debut in what must have been very muddy conditions. A total of 72 runners took part at Queen Elizabeth parkrun event #296 Local legend James Baker won- of course.

Position ↓ Gender Position ↓ parkrunner ↓ Club ↓ Run Time ↓
1 1 James BAKER Chichester Runners & AC 00:17:21
2 1 Emily HUTCHINSON Arena 80 AC 00:20:15
54 16 Fiona BUCK Baffins Fitclub 00:33:19

A total of 226 runners took part at Winchester parkrun event #287 Louise Griffin made her debut and a great debut it was as 2nd lady in one of her best times and only 0:10 off first place. Only Alex Millham of BFC has run here before. We should do some parkrun tourism again sometime and this could be one to do.

A total of 183 runners took part at Southsea parkrun event #273. Southsea's reputation for being a fast, flat course is matched by its reputation for being exposed to high winds and the strong easterly (the opposite of last week) with cold rain stinging your face certainly did not change the perception. We had many volunteers who must have been freezing. Katherine NewellKevin AylwardDaniel WaltonDenyse KingMike DrainKate EnglishKev Buddas Run Director, Nikki ToutVerity-Jayne WaltonSarina Collis were our volunteers.
The occasion was Dan Slayford 's 200th parkrun (with a Pop Star theme) and he ran it (and won it) in a white mini wedding dress held together on his back by sellotape! It was also the 50th run for Laura Hyman who along with Alex Yorke was dressed as the ABBA girls. Incredibly, in the conditions Martin Biddle ッ and even more unbelievably Amy Hedley ran PBs by 0:42 and 0:05 respectively.
So we had first male and female runners today! Anyone within 90 seconds of their PB did well I reckon. In the age-graded times, Emma Jolley (hampered by her Geri Halliwell Union Flag Dress) was 4th, I was 6th and Dan 10th.

I must also mention the Victory 5 mile which was on 2nd December where Emma Jolley was 52nd (5th lady) in 29:27, Michael Rae 270th in 35:39 and Richard Stevens 447th in 40:55. This was a top class race in which many of the top local speedies ran PBs. Chichester's James Baker was only 15th so that shows tha class of the field and Great Britain athlete Charlotte Purdue was only 2nd lady! The full results are at www.fullonsport.com/event/victory-5-mile-results/results

Not many Baffineers were there as many were marathon training, But Nicola Carlile Chinnery was marshalling.
