Parkrun report Saturday 30th March 2019.I make no apology for starting at Southsea where a whopping 71 Baffineers (surely a record for a club here) made their way down to where I was celebrating my 250th parkrun. They made up a record Southsea crowd of 547, beating 12th of January's 546 by one! Firstly thank you to all who came down and made a wonderful start to the day. Thanks to Nikki Tout who made some lovely cakes, and to all who donated to the Brain Tumour Research bucket collection organised by Debbie Pentland. Over £150 was collected! Denyse King was turnaround marshall and Katherine Newell and Laura Hyman also volunteered.There were debuts for Lisa Duke, Terry Neale and Kylah Collis. The almost perfect conditions meant there were some great times including PBs for Tom Heard 0:53 APPB (All-parkrun PB), Kevin Rowsell 1:34, Matthew McLean 0:15 (2nd best at any PR), Joshua McPheat 5:50!!! and also an APPB by 1:20, Paul Griffin 0:05 APPB, Louise Griffin 0:31 APPB and 2nd lady!(This added to Louise's 10k PB last week at Eastleigh). Kirsty Williams ran 1:06 better than before and David Sharp a 0:19 PB. Liam John Bradshaw was only 0:01 outside his best, Fiona Shaw ran her 3rd best, best since 4th June 2016 and best age-graded time. Kevin Aylward, Neil Priddle, Brenda Bradshaw and Kirsty Davidson ran their fastest for a while too. There were also PBs for 2 friends who came down, Dan Daniel Shawyer ( who started at Southsea in the early days when I could actually beat him) and Robert Duncan Clayton my oldest mate (timewise I mean!). Some came down in the middle of Marathon Training when a parkrun isn't really on the agenda for them. In the Deep Blue on the Pier after, many came in for breakfast, where I was surprised to be presented with another lot of cakes by Christopher Stocks who is sometimes Run Director and his partner Susan Bryan. It was also nice that Elliot Webber was RD for the first time on my 250th. Some more stats, some about me! We now have the most runs and runners at Southsea. My time was 20:01, five seconds better than my good time in February and my best since July 2017(that was a freak one, I haven't run these times regularly since 2015). My age-graded time was my best ever. I won my age-group and was 1st age-graded time in this run. Louise Griffin had 8th best and Fiona Shaw 12th. I apologise if I have forgotten anyone or anything! I await my 250 parkrun shirt, which just happens to be GREEN.
