BFC Race Reports

Hayling Billy 5 Mile 2019 Wednesday 12.6.19

by Brett Rumfitt

There was a reduced BFC presence mainly due to many of the Ladies running the Purbrook 5 just 3 days earlier. There was a terrific downpour by Hayling Bridge just about 45 minutes before the start meaning I suspected my 112 dry race sequence would end. When we arrived it hadn't rained at the starting end of the Billy Line. However my all-time dry race record was finally broken when persistent drizzle started part way through the race. The conditions weren't too muddy but there were plenty of large puddles on the top mile of the course. A great race, well worth entering and well-run by Victory AC of Havant and small enough to be able to cheer your teammates in if you have finished your race. As far as I can see these were all the Baffins runners but please advise if otherwise. Some really good times here. I was pleased to pick up the 2nd-place trophy for the M50-59 category especially as it is my last race here in this category. They also had my 2nd place award from 2018 to give me!
