parkrun report 13th July 2019

Baffins runners were only at 3 different runs this week. Firstly at Lakeside where Matthew McLean and Dave Ollie Oliver celebrated their 50ths (parkruns not birthdays!). We had 43 runners there altogether and we made it into The News with a photo on Wednesday.There were PBs here for Sonny Locke (again) 0:02 (finishing 5th), Daniel Walton 0:44, James Millham (Alex Millham) 0:31, Ian Briscoe 0:19, Tom Heard 0:42, Liam John Bradshaw 1:11 and Alex Yorke 0:43 among some impressive runs in quite warm energy-sapping conditions. Zoe Fitzgerald (0:03) and Kim Biggs (0:15) also ran best times on this course and indeed ran All-parkrun PBs. Colin Edwards was tail-runner/walker. Steve Cross was only 0:02 outside his fastest on his birthday. Denyse King ran a 0:15 Lakeside PB here.In the age-graded times, Fiona Shaw was 5th and I just pipped her in 4th as we continue our close rivalry in this category!A total of 397 (2nd most ever, no doubt due to our huge contingent) runners took part.

Meanwhile a total of 371 runners took part at Southsea parkrun event #304. Emma Jolley was 1st lady and there were some great PBs for Owen Marshall 0:32 and Rob Cooke 0:13.Emma Jolley had the 3rd best and Michael Rae the 9th best age-graded times.

Later many of us went to the Mountbatten Centre for the 24 hour Relay for Life for Cancer Research. A large number of us stayed overnight and took turns running and walking the track. A great and moving occasion for many.Captain Kev Budd will update on just how much was raised by us but I know it was in excess of £1,200.I shall be at Southsea tomorrow so see many of you back there. Let's hope the thunder is finished by 9:00!!!
