parkrun Review 9th November 2019

A bit more to sift through after 2 quiet weeks on the local parkrun scene, but the main news is LAKESIDE IS BACK IN ACTION!

Firstly however a total of 1051 runners took part at the massive Southampton parkrun event #383. A good time for Sonny Locke here. Indeed it was a course PB by some 15:29, probably the best PB I've seen! I assume last time he was pacing?

After last week's cancellation due to the horrendous weather, a total of 439 runners took part at Southsea parkrun event #319 in very pleasant conditions.

There were fastest times for many months for Kevin Aylward, Kev Budd Billy Jules Bilton and Helen Mayhead. Ian Briscoe ran a 0:27 PB. Kevin Friery ran a 0:16 PB and Debbie Keenan PB'd by 0:58.

Kam Fan 0:03 and Jason Smith 0:01 were so close to bettering their previous bests here. Chris King ran a massive PB 21:03, maybe he was walking last time? However it was still 03:02 faster than his Lakeside best.

Geoffrey Newman made his Southsea debut in a fast 26:00 which is an APPB, 0:07 better than his Lakeside fastest. Meanwhile daughter Helen Newman ran only her 2nd parkrun and bettered her time at Lakeside by 01:09

In the Age-Graded times, Fiona Shaw was 4th, beating me into 5th with the returning Amanda Simpson 17th.

If you want to put Baffins as your club you just need to go to your parkrun email and amend your details. Helen Newman you may wish to do this although others are members of more than 1 club and prefer to have their other one or maybe diplomatically, no club on their record. I usually know those members who are not registered as BFC but may miss them sometimes.

Volunteers included Run Director Andy Seek and Sarah Spragg and the RNLI Crew from Southsea.
