parkrun Review 16th November 2019
Many were missing parkrun, taking it easy or volunteering as they had the Gosport Half the following day.
We begin on our travels around the country from inner city London to the open spaces of a National Trust Estate in Devon.
A total of 431 runners took part at Mile End parkrun event #406 Liam John Bradshaw was only the 2nd Baffins runner here after Rob Scammell. The event is near Mile End Stadium (NOT Leisure Centre) in East London/Stepney/Tower Hamlets. Nearest DLR is Limehouse, Tube is Mile End.

A total of 226 runners took part at Killerton (Exeter) parkrun event #442. Kev Budd was our 1st runner here on a tough mixed terrain cross-country course on a National Trust Estate at Broadclyst, but I suspect another who is from that area will also run it or another local one in East Devon soon. Finally a total of 384 runners took part at Southsea parkrun event #320. Dan Slayford ran an incredibly quick run and was 1st in his 2nd best time (only 0:03 outside PB) at this venue and his 4th best parkrun anywhere. This despite telling me he wasn't in good shape beforehand! Volunteers included Claire Gasson, Janet Sampson, Duncan Gardner, Verity-Jayne Walton and Ian Briscoe and Esme Webber.
PBs came from Sarah Ellis a huge 1:18, James Yorke 0:03 ( as he creeps ever nearer to Kev Budd 's time), and Jacqueline Ladd a massive 2:45.
The main PB I must mention is that of Becci Knowles whose 0:07 one I missed last week! However, to make sure I didn't miss her again, she smashed another 0:27 off this week!
Both Geoffrey Newman and Helen Newman were just outside their good times from the previous week and Billy Jules Bilton ran another sub 40, the first time he's done 2 in succession since May.
In the Age-Graded times Dan Slayford was 4th, Michael Rae 14th and Amanda Simpson 26th.
I must also mention someone most Southsea regulars would recognize. Sam Trout runs in the M70-74 category and used to teach some of our members at school. He has run 218 parkruns at Southsea and last ran PBs in February 2015 (by 0:14) and then May 2019 (0:04) and October 2019 (0:33) He ran another one this week taking another 0:15 off. When he's not running Sam always volunteers too. A great example to all ages.
