parkrun Review Saturday 25th January 2020

A total of 104 runners took part at Mountbatten School parkrun event #41. Chris King and Denyse King were debuting here in what looks like a meet-up of the Vegan Running Club. The course is a mix of trail paths and grass in the school grounds in Romsey. It doesn't look like they get large numbers here 285 and 190 are their largest.

It was former member Dan Slayford 's 250th parkrun and he won in his 2nd fastest time here just a bit slower than last week's PB. It was also another Dan, Daniel Shawyer's 250th and many of you know Dan as he was a regular in the early days at Southsea before a much more convenient parkrun local to him in Fareham started up. He ran his first sub 20 for 9 months.

Now let's get onto our own runners! There was a south west wind that was a little stronger than the 5mph forecast and we were thankful for it behind us on the return 2.5k. There were some great PBs for Laura Richardson a massive 11:49 after her first run last week when she ran with a friend. Jamie Payne 2:48 in his 2nd run, Rebecca Niles 0:30 (after 1:09 last week!), James Millham (Alex Millham) 1:04 in his first run here for 15 months and Jackie Taylor 0:20 in her 2nd run.

Richard Stevens, Will Collis (Sarina Collis) , Jason Smith, David Sharp, Luke Linnington (Darren Linington) Sarah Ellis, Kylah Collis were all close to their best times. Billy Jules Bilton continued his recent improvement. Chantelle Ash, Sharon Cook and Kirsty Jestins made their Southsea debuts.

In the Age-Graded times, Fiona Shaw was 10th, Amanda Simpson 30th, Michael Rae 36th and I was 7th. Volunteers included Katherine Newell ,Alice Bird, and Liam John Bradshaw who took photos. I thought the new double funnel worked well too.
