parkrun review from Saturday 22nd February 2020
We will begin at Havant where Kev Budd was celebrating his 150th and Liam John Bradshaw his 50th parkrun. I have never seen such wet conditions although some of our Brutal and Tough Mudder teammates surely have! The wind was not much of a factor as there are many high trees around the course.
26 Baffineers took part knowing that no matter how tough it was, there was cake baked by the talented Nikki Tout at the end. Run Britain ranked the difficulty at 4.6 out of 9.0 so times were slower than usual. However that did not stop Baffins getting 3 in the top 20 and 2nd lady in Louise Griffin. There were also PBs for Kevin Friery 2:19, Olivia Scammell 0:34 ( 3 in a row on this course) and Katie Rowsell 0:10. Paul Griffin agonisingly squalled his best here. Oh, but for that annoying boy with the headphones who kept dodging about! Rich Harris Roty, Paul Alland, Louise Griffin and myself were not that far off our best times here either. There was a great debut for Lee Hammond with the 4th fastest BFC time here.
In the Age-Graded times, Louise Griffin was 11th and I came 1st, which surprised me here.

A total of 371 runners took part at Southsea parkrun event #336. Attendance numbers were down everywhere with the arrival of Storm Ellen and Southsea had the highest difficulty rating I've seen here and indeed anywhere with 8.2 out of 9.0. (last week was 3.6 and the week before 2.2 and they were windy!) Therefore well done to all here as the return leg must have been incredibly hard. I've run in a 6.0 at Southsea and I could hardly move! Congratulations to Owen Marshall and Fiona Shaw our first 2 finishers here.
Fiona was also 3rd in the Age-Graded times and Michael Rae 10th. Most seemed about 2 minutes slower than usual and a minute slower than last week.
Even so Jackie Taylor ran a 0:08 PB and Chris King was within a minute of his.
