by Brett Rumfitt

Just what you've been waiting for!!: another parkrun review, this time from 8th January 2022.

We will begin at Southampton where the numbers are always high and consistently in the top 5 attended events in the UK.

A total of 714 runners took part atSouthampton parkrun event #423

Ian Briscoe was our 1st runner here in the 4th event.

It is run on gravel and tarmac paths. Starting near Testbourne Play Area, head on the main path towards Ashurst Bridge, crossing a small wooden bridge then turning left alongside Bartley Water. Head up the slope and follow the path to the right. Cross the main path into the skate park, turning along a gravel track then onto the tarmac to the first turnaround point. We then return to the main path, turning left to head back towards the start. At the playpark, turn left towards Briarwood Road, to the 2nd turnaround point. Head back to the main path to complete the first lap. Turn right for the 2nd lap, and proceed as before, at the end of the 2nd lap turn left towards the finish which is about 100m away at the ball park

At another fairly new parkrun a total of 82 runners took part at Itchen Valley Country parkrun event #27

Louise Griffin and Ashleigh made their debuts here. Louise was 2nd female finisher despite a slower time for her, no doubt due to the course being wet and consisting of grass, and trail paths-her favorite.

The course is run on a mixture of stone tracks, sand dunes and sand. One continuous lap on a mixture of stone tracks, sand dunes and beach. This unique parkrun takes in stunning views of Woolacombe Bay and beyond. Maybe even to Lundy Island on a clear day! t is an excellent opportunity to run amongst rich and diverse wildlife and habitats. Held on National Trust land within the North Devon AONB.

Unfortunately this course is not suited to buggies.

A total of 180 runners took part at Portsmouth Lakeside parkrun event #224

Ian Saynor has now run the last 3, after never running a parkrun before! Is he a convert then??
