parkrun review Saturday 12th March 2022
A total of 787 runners took part at Southampton parkrun event #432, which is always in the top 4 attended parkruns in the UK. Sonny Locke ran his fastest parkrun since August 2021. He has the best time (18:32) of all current BFC members.

A total of 154 runners took part at Ipswich parkrun event #425. Ian Saynor is our 1st runner here (up for the Pompey match) The course is a 1 lapone consisting of grass, with some sections of tarmac, gravel path and woodland trail.

A total of 399 runners took part at Moors Valley parkrun event #247. Talking of 1 lap courses, group of 8 Baffins tourists made our way west to near Ringwood to a beautiful park and course. We were our 1st runners here on a mixture of tarmac paths, loose stone paths and trail paths. The anti-rain gods worked again as it stopped 5 minutes before the start. Helen Mayhead was 7th female (2nd in age group & in part assisted by Ziggy) and Becci Knowles 9th in a large field. I was 2nd in age group too.

Alex Gannon was 7th male and John Bucketsofrain 10th and even more impressively John Bucketsofrain had the 2nd best age-graded time. Denise Courtney was 7th female. Local legend James Baker claimed the course record partly as he didn't take 2 wrong turns this time! Darren Linington ran a 3 sec PB.

Volunteers who are BFC members included Billy Jules Bilton, Kev Budd, Lee Hammond, Kate English, Sarina Rina Collis, Kitty Amelia Li, Bill Mayhead, Kevin Rowsell, Chi SO, Kevin Matthew, Jade Southam and Colin Southwell. We do have a good reliable core who aren't Baffins members too. However, we do need volunteers for most posts for all weeks so please email the Great Salterns parkrun team to see how you can help out, especially if racing the next day, or out injured. It's a great way to stay involved.
A total of 350 runners took part at Exmouth parkrun event #148. Collecting an 'E' for their apphabest, Andy, Martyn Threader and Pam Threader ran here where only Jason Smith had run for us previously. The course is at the Esplanade, Exmouth and is run entirely on permanent paths.

A total of 260 runners took part at Medina I.O.W. parkrun event #484. The Griffins were on the Isle of Wight at the course near Newport for the 1st time. Louise Griffin was 4th female finisher and both Louise and Paul Griffin now overtake me as our fastest on the Island. The course is at Seaclose Park and Medina sports field in Newport, Isle of Wight, and they meet at Medina Leisure Centre and is run over footpath and grass sections. It is moved to Appley Park in East Ryde while the IOW Festival is being prepared, during it and after while the site is being allowed to recover.
