Ian Saynor grabbed an even bigger PB with 1:03 (2nd best in all events), Jacquie Jones (10th female)beat her previous best by 57 secs and I must mention a superb 2:28 PB for young Sienna Kim Stroud. Caitlin Burchett was 8th female finisher.

Nick Lay was close to his best as was Tracy Strydom, John Bucketsofrain was best Age-Graded percentage with Richard Walker 8th.

There was a great 1st place for Jo Wilkins with a 36 sec PB (2nd best at all parkruns) on the course. This is Jo's 3rd parkrun 1st place after winning here in June and at Netley Abbey in May.

Geoff Newman was only a few secs outside his fastest here but wife Alison Newman ran an excellent 1:06 PB. This is her best at any course.

Alex Yorke made her debut here and indeed is our 1st runner on this course.

The route consists of three laps of Victoria Park. It is scenic (around a pond with Mute Swans, Coots, Moorhens, Tufted Ducks & more) reasonably flat and with no real hills - only one slight incline! It is designed to be enjoyable, rather than for pure speed. It is mainly tarmac with one short section of crazy paving.

From the start near the main gates on Victoria Park Drive North the course bears left at the bottom of the main avenue of trees and goes through the formal gardens and around the boating pond. The route continues west along the path near the park perimeter towards the Fossil Grove and along the narrow crazy paved path which runs parallel with the dual carriageway. It then turns right, up a slight incline and at the top of the incline the course turns right and back in an easterly direction towards the main avenue of trees. Once there that’s the first lap done. Repeat this twice. The final lap of the course turns left just before the formal gardens and then winds round again to the left to finish on the straight on the park perimeter near the start.

Finally to the Isle of Wight where Jason Smith, Ian Briscoe and myself took a 'flight' on the hovercraft aiming to give us 20 minutes at the other side to get the 0.9 of a mile to the start. It was normally about £28, but 20% off with a Portsmouth Library Card and even more for over 60s! (£18)

We were getting worried as what seemed like 3 cricket teams from Portsmouth Grammar School started to get on and clog the gangways up with all their gear. They would not start the journey until it was all put into a safer place. Therefore our 20 minutes became only 11 and we had to run to the start and up a hill to just hear the RD's briefing finish by announcing it was their 500th event. It is usually at Seaclose Park, Newport but for a few weeks around the IOW Festival it moves to this twisty, hilly course in a park including gravel, grass, and promenade with sand on it! They do not seem to have any details of this course on their web page.

I had run here in 2018 after a 6 days IOW coastal walk and heat exhaustion so was hopeful of a PB, however it was equally hot last week. However there was free cake to be had to celebrate the 500th.

Jason Smith and Ian Briscoe ran for the 1st time here and I'm pleased to say I beat my PB by 1:08 and grabbed the fastest BFC IOW time from Richard Walker. Probably not for long though looking at his time from Great Salterns.
