parkrun review 13th August 2022

A total of 55 runners took part Great Salterns parkrun event #30. This smallest number of runners and walkers was partly due to the extreme heat, and hopefully not because people knew I was RD that day! I did forget the event number for a short while!

There were only 5 BFC runners, however, Helen Mayhead was 3rd female finisher and John Bucketsofrain 2nd in the Age-Graded percentages.

A total of 117 runners took part at Lymington Woodside parkrun event #227. Conditions must have been very different to the muddy grass I ran on here earlier in the year.

The grass and tarmac course shows Woodside Park at its very best taking in both the well kept playing fields and the beautiful gardens. Lap one (1km) takes in the perimeter of the playing fields while laps two and three (2km each) include a circuit of the gardens as well as the playing fields.

A total of 161 runners took part at Hasenheide (Berlin) parkrun event #169

Alex Yorke ran for the 1st time here and is our 2nd runner after Eric De Greef. I may be ablke to attempt this one later in the year hopefully, depending on the transport links.

Start and finish are at Café Hasenschänke, near the fairy tale playground and the natural theater. The route consists of 2 laps. First it goes 300 m in a westerly direction. At the first fork, go slightly left. Shortly thereafter, turn right onto the main path that goes around the park. After approx. 1.1 km you will pass a mini zoo. In the 2nd loop, after just over 3 km, it turns right and climbs the hill for 200 m before rejoining the circular path. After about 4.7 km, turn right onto the home stretch.

The run takes place in Volkspark Hasenheide Berlin, Columbiadamm 160, 10965 Berlin. It is run on a mixture of different surfaces. In some places along the route, there may be puddles and accumulations of mud and leaves after rainfall. Depending on availability, route posts or signs will indicate this at the key points.

A total of 49 runners took part at Cotsford Fields parkrun event #148

The course is at Cotsford Fields, Horden, Co. Durham. The course is run on a mixture of trail paths and grass. 2 laps of a multi terrain course running around the perimeter of the fields along the coast, starting and finishing in the same area close to the entrance of the field on Cotsford Lane.

Access to the local beach is 250 yards along the main track. HOWEVER, there are no toilet facilities available on site. Unfortunately there is NO café close to the parkrun route, a Costa is located in Peterlee approx. 2.5 miles away and a Starbucks at Dalton Park 7 miles away.

Billy Jules Bilton is our 1st runner here (in his home county), and in fact it looks like he was a tail walker, a role he undertakes regularly at Great Salterns.
