parkrun Review for Saturday 27th August 2022
A total of 114 runners took part at Forest of Dean parkrun event #582
Alex is our 2nd runner here in what looks like a good time. The event starts at the Forest of Dean, Berry Hill, Coleford (NOT GOLEFORD as it says on the web page!!), Glos, GL16 7QW. The course is at Coverham Enclosure Five Acres, in the Forest of Dean, and run on forest paths. The course is comprised of two laps. The first is the simpler route, around 2k, on the outer perimeter and is clearly marked by posts, which are numbered with yellow discs 1-18 and other post with yellow directional arrows. The second lap is nearer 3k, is more technical but is clearly marked by posts with red discs numbered 19-36 and other posts with directional arrows also in red. This lap covers small parts of the perimeter but in the main is run inside the forest and takes a number of twists and turns throughout. Keep an eye on the markers to ensure you follow the correct course.
It is a working forest and conditions change with the seasons. Be aware of tree roots and other hazards. Trail shoes are recommended.

Start and finish is the departure sign of the former Munich Riem Airport (1939-1992) in Riemer Park, Messestadt Munich near the Riem Arcaden. From there we run an 8 through the Riemer Park and circle the lake and the activity belt.
In detail: From the departure sign we walk south to the activity strip and turn east there directly to Riemer See, circumnavigating the lake in a large arc. At the playground near Gronsdorf, head north and then east on the paved wide path back to the lake. Then north past the Garden of Friendship to the promenade and on this west back to the departure sign.
Let's hope that any other Baffins runners who visit here have a much better journey home from Munich than Neil Priddle
