John Bucketsofrain was a first-timer here and ran the 8th best Age-Graded percentage. In fact it is the best percentage, 72.72% of any of our current members. It looked like a strong field, with quite a few of the top few runners looking like familiar local parkrun winners.

A total of 173 runners took part at Boston (Lincs) parkrun event #288. Tracy Strydom is our 1st runner here.
The course is three clockwise laps (tarmac & trail) of the Witham Country Park, starting and finishing in the centre of the park near the picnic area.
From the start, run towards Boston. When the course reaches the river path, turn sharp right. Follow this path for about 500m before turning right to head back towards the start to complete the first lap.
On the second lap, when the course reaches the river path, turn right again onto the river path. Follow this path for about 300m before turning left to join the towpath. Follow the towpath for about 600m until it rejoins the main path, cross the main path and loop round on the grassy area to head back towards Boston then turn left back to the start.
The third lap follows the same route as the second. At the end of this lap, turn left to finish on the grass as you reach the start/finish area.

The most local parkrun for many of our runners and also where we mostly volunteer continues to provide many PBs. This is because it is a relatively new event and it will be interesting to see how and if this trend continues once the course gets wetter.

We are very grateful to the volunteers who made this event happen: Julie ALLAN, Kevin AYLWARD, Deborah BRIDGER, Terrie BROWN, Kev BUDD, Carol CARBERRY, Steve CROSS, Kate ENGLISH, Gareth FIFORD, Ian GREGORY, Jim HAILSTONE, Nick LAY, Kitty LI, Kevin ROWSELL, Brett RUMFITT, Janet SAMPSON, Carol SEYMOUR, Nigel SO, Dennis SPENCER, Kim STROUD, Janice WELLSTEAD, Samuel WINTON, Alex YORKE
I'm well-known for not getting rained on in races and parkruns but this statistic was blown away by it pouring down for the duration of my run at least! There were PBs for Liam John Bradshaw 9 secs, Robert Turner-diamond 1:34, Brenda Bradshaw 1:16 and 4th in a row and this was an All Parkrun PB by 9 secs. Steve O'Shea ran a 1:10 best.
In the Age-Graded percentages, Simon Boreham was 10th and I was 2nd. Ian Saynor and myself were also not far from our course PBs.
Simon Boreham made his debut here after a long period not running parkruns.
There are still a few vacant volunteer positions for this week's run on 17th September if anyone could consider helping the event to go ahead. We need someone to assist on finish tokens, some marshals and someone to do the first timers' briefing among others.
It was great to see many of you at 12 noon after doing laps to raise money for Clare Rutter's bench and later at the Festival of Cricket, which seemed to go very well.
