A total of 341 runners (much larger than usual) took part at Victoria Dock parkrun event #143. This is because it is right next to the Excel Centre where London Marathoners pick up their numbers. Helen Mayhead, Ash and Jason Smith took part in the iconic event the following day. I'm therefore pleased to say none of them threatened my BFC record time here earlier this year! The course is a double out-and-back on the north side of Victoria Dock, entirely along the dockside path.

Starting near the community hut by The Crystal, proceed along the dockside path until you reach the turnaround point at about two-thirds of the length of the Excel Exhibition Centre, where a course marshal will indicate for you to turn back. Retrace your steps along the dockside path until you return to the course start point. Repeat the course once more, and finish by the front entrance of The Crystal.

A total of 57 runners took part at Great Salterns parkrun event #37, the 1st to include the new parkwalk role. We've always welcomed walkers, but this new initiative is emphasising that you dont need to be able to run.

Kim Stroud was 1st female finisher! and she, Simon Boreham and Tracy Strydom were all near their best times on the course. Olivia Scammell 3rd female, ran a PB by a huge 1:42 which pipped Mum Janet Sampson whose PB was by 1:14

Simon Boreham and Richard Jones were in the top 10 male finishers.

It's great to stay in touch and enjoy the social side and there's alwayd tea or coffee at Costa afterwards. Many roles can be combined with running or walking too. Contact through the Great Salterns email or on the facebook page. With the GSR this week, many positions are taken, but all help is welcome especially for future weeks.

Please see our webpage for details on how to renew memberships which will also give you a chance for a place at the Christmas Party on 2nd December at The Rifle Club. You can also buy new kit online.
