parkrun review 15th October 2022
As it was the day before the Great South Run, many took a day off running and many volunteered too.
With Southsea cancelled due to the GSR 5k race, a larger than usual total of 121 runners took part at Great Salterns parkrun event #39. People were mostly taking it a little easier though.
I'm not sure if James Is still a member (Alex Marathon) but his 4th place is the 2nd fastest by a BFC registrered ruunner at this course behind Sonny Locke 's 19:35. James was 4th male and Gordon Scruton 10th. Katie Beasley 9th and Emily Smith 10th were in the top 10 and Emily ran a 34 sec PB. Jen Little ran a 23 sec PB.
1st lady was Katie Carew-Robinson who is a leading light in the GoodGym group who carry out good deeds in the area including litter picking. They will be doing a volunteer takeover soon.

Course Description
Route A This is run entirely along the 3 laps of the promenade which is flat and paved. The course is run in an anti-clockwise direction between the Yacht Club and the lighthouse by the point car park. This course is very picturesque and runners will experience the beautiful coast line as they run.
Route B (back up) Route B, in case of not being able to use the main Route A, is entirely on permanent paths within Eastcliff Park. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain. Dependent on availability, marshals will be at key sections of the course or signs will be in place.
