parkrun review 29th October 2022

A total of 94 runners took part at Great Salterns parkrun event #41, where volunteers, mainly Ian Gregory, had decorated the wetter course with Hallowe'en items such as pumpkins etc.

Jason Smith and I (4th best age grade) made the top 10 males and Helen Mayhead and Denise Courtney were in the top 10 female finishers. Ruth Collins was near her best time here and there was a 0:18 PB for Jen Little, her 3rd in a row.

We also had someone in the new role of parkwalker. Remember, you can walk too.

Members of GoodGym (they walk, run or cycle to help out) did a litter pick after and are supplying many of the volunteer roles on 5th November. If you fancy helping them, in any of their many community helping roles have a look at their website. The local area activator is Katie Carew-Robinson.

The course is at Wilverley Inclosure in the New Forest National Park, all visitors and volunteers need to be fully aware of the New Forest Code . A single lap clockwise course around the main undulating gravel track through Wilverley Inclosure with a marshalled out and back section at 3kms.

Becci Knowles ran for the 1st time here and is our fastest female on the course.

A total of 175 runners took part Dunfermline parkrun event #282

The course is in Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline on tarmac. The parkrun route starts at the Andrew Carnegie statue. From the statue, the route heads towards the Louise Carnegie gates, turning right before the gates and heading down the path towards the Glen Pavilion which is the beginning of the 3 anticlockwise loops. There is a long downward slope to the bottom of the loop and a shorter uphill section. When reaching the Glen Pavilion at the end of the third loop the route heads diagonally to the right with the finish line straight ahead close to the play park. The route is scenic with views of Dunfermline Abbey and bridges of the River Forth in the distance. It is run fully on tarmac paths and takes in a number of Pittencrieff Park’s many attractions, including Pittencrieff House, woodland areas and the Glen Pavilion.
