- Bretts Parkrun Roundup

BFC Members parkrun review for 14th January 2023

by Brett Rumfitt

The weather was still very wet and there was a lot of standing water and mud on many parkruns. Many were called off but after the course set-up at Great Salterns, RD Kev gave the go ahead, albeit with specific warnings of potential slippery spots. I've seen photos of parkruns which went ahead with much worse conditions.

A total of 33 runners (the smallest number by 12) took part at Great Salterns parkrun event #54

There were no PBs, not surprisingly. In fact most were 3 to 5 minutes and more outside their best.

However Kim Stroud did get 1st female for the 2nd time and 10th best Age-Graded percentage.

Thanks to the volunteers
We are very grateful to the volunteers who made this event happen: Lysanne BROOMFIELD, Terrie BROWN, Kev BUDD, Matthew FLEET, Nikki HARRIS, Tony HEWETT, Lynne JOLLEY, Luke LININGTON, Jen LITTLE, Craig LUNN, Robert MARSH, Helen MAYHEAD, Edward MORRIS, Bob PENTLAND, Brett RUMFITT, Ian SAYNOR, Bridget SMART, Jason SMITH

A few who are Marathon Training decided not to run at the last minute, but got involved in helping out.
Why not get involved and volunteer? Just email the team on the parkrun webpage.  It's a great way to stay involved if racing the following day, or injured. This coming week we only need another marshal, someone for set-up and someone for close down.

A total of 190 runners took part at a windy Southsea parkrun event #416, their smallest event for over 4 years.
Fiona Shaw continued her recent form with 8th female and 2nd in the Age-Graded percentages, Michael Rae had the 6th best AG. Laura Richardson was just behind as 9th female.

Some of this is on tarmac but much of it on grass so must have been tricky with all those turns. Ian Briscoe was about 4 minutes below his fastest here.
