parkrun review for 18th February 2023
I make it 52 current members running at what must be a record 16 events including 2 in Wales and 2 in Scotland.
A total of 207 runners took part at Riverfront (Newport, Wales) parkrun event #236
The course is a flat out and back following the path along the River Usk.
Starting from the rear of The Riverfront Theatre it heads south along the river past the iconic Newport City Footbridge and beneath the George Street Bridge. From there it continues tracking the river path, under the Southern Distributor Road Bridge to the sailing ship sculptures and returns along the same route, with the finish line at The Wave sculpture.
Due to the width of the path in some places no dogs are allowed on this course.
We ask all participants, including those in wheelchairs and/or with buggies to take special care at the various bends and corners to avoid collisions with oncoming participants

A total of 75 runners took part at Ruchill (Glasgow) parkrun event #220 Despite its name they said no hills (just inclines). For those interested it was near Partick Thistle FC. This was the one I ran in all new kit, my case having been left on the train on the Thursday. I hurriedly renewed the basics at Greaves Sports, an independent shop in the centre of the city.
Just less than 3 laps, this clockwise course starts near the Murano Street park entrance. It then head south on the level and then up a gradual incline before turning downhill for a short distance, passing the high park school campus on the left. A turn towards the south at the bottom of the hill leads to a long level section that builds to a gradual incline and a turn northwards to return towards the start area. The first lap then finishes with a loop and a sharp but short incline and a right turn back to the start. The first lap is repeated twice and then for the finish the course heads west to finish near the Murano Street park gate.
I got the 7th best Age-Grade.

A total of 216 runners took part at Keswick parkrun event #381
An out and back course on Keswick Railway Path, from the bollards just after the old station to a turn-around at the iron bridge. The whole course is tarmac, quite flat for Keswick (!) and has great views of the river all the way. The last half mile should be really fast. Road running shoes are best suited.
John Bucketsofrain is our 1st runner here in the Lake District town.

A total of 247 runners took part at Burnham and Highbridge parkrun event #326
The course comprises a clockwise loop of Apex Park and an out-and-back section beside the River Brue and along a short section of the Esplanade. From the start behind Lizzies Kitchen, you follow a tarmac path through the park, with the lake on the left hand side. Shortly after the lake you turn right and follow cycle route 33 for 100 meters before making another right turn. This leads to the riverside path which you follow to the end before bearing left on to the Esplanade. A seating area on the Esplanade provides a turning point and you retrace your steps along the seafront and the riverside path. After 500m beside the river you turn left into the park and follow a tarmac path leading to the lake, now on your right, and the finish.
Becci Knowles is our 1st runner here on the North Somerset coast. She was 6th female and ran her best time since September 2022.

Alex Gannon ran a course PB by 50 secs. Starting by the parkour and basketball court, the spine path crosses over the bridge and straight down to the river. A sharp right along River Walk leads to the children's play park. All the way round the play park and follow the main path up to the College Roundabout corner. Follow the path towards the toilet block and right turn to head alongside the skate park. Over Bollard Bridge and continue along the river path with the river to your left until you reach the point that you first joined River Walk.
Complete 4 laps then turn right back up the spine path to where you first started where the finish will be clearly seen.
