A total of 1159 runners took part at Bushy parkrun event #920, the 1st and still the largest parkrun in the UK. This WAS Alex Yorke 's 100th parkrun, not last week's events. Sorry Alex. Many went with her to celebrate this achievement including some debuts from Paul Griffin, (fastest parkrun for 9 months) Louise Griffin (fastest parkrun for 6 months), Ashleigh Moira and Brenda Bradshaw. Husband James Yorke ran a 3 minute PB compared to his time from March 2019.

Course Description
A fast, flat course that runs anticlockwise from close to the Diana Fountain in Bushy Park. After 250 metres or so on grass, running parallel with the play park, the course moves onto a hoggin path towards the Church Grove gate. There is a left turn to take you around the edge of Hampton Wick Cricket Club. Continue towards the Hampton Wick gate and take a left turn into Cobbler’s Walk (also called Nightingale Lane). After passing The Leg-of-Mutton Pond there is a right turn onto a track towards the Sandy Lane gate. On reaching the gate, there is a left turn to take you along the perimeter (hoggin) path towards the Teddington Gate. A further left turn will take you onto the grass of Chestnut Avenue. There is another left turn back onto Cobbler’s Walk. A marshal will indicate the point at which you will make a right turn onto a track to run towards Heron Pond, over a little bridge - be careful of the tree roots in the 100m section approaching the bridge - round the South side of the pond on a hoggin path or grass (your choice) - the finish is in sight!
Occasionally, the start will revert to the Diana Fountain end of Chestnut Avenue. This may be as a result of other events in the park or dangerous conditions.
Another huge total of 977 runners took part at Southampton parkrun event #484
Despite Sonny Locke running his first flat out run here for a while and best since June 2022, he (and Paul Griffin at Bushy) were both outside the top 100 in these massive events. Louise Griffin's 25th female at Bushy looks impressive too.

Brierley Forest parkrun (Skegby Rd, Huthwaite, Notts) is a gently undulating, clockwise, two-lap course run on a mixed terrain. Start is near the car park/visitor center.
From the start head North East for just over 1KM, follow the acute bends and signage on the path to meet with a main link trail where a right turn is made. Following this for approximately 300 metres to Brierley Branch then turn right again following signs going down a slight slope levelling out to take you towards the parks' pond. In about 700 metres a left turn will be made indicated with signs and cones to take you around the side of the pond upto the Seeds of Discovery. Here a right turn will be made to go through a small tree tunnel for 50 metres then another right turn to send you around the back of the pond. Follow the path and signage to where the trail meets a bridge to turn left and follow the path South West towards the finish area where just before to complete the first lap you will be directed with a right turn through a tree tunnel. This leads through the play park to just before the visitor centre following the path right towards Edwards Bench to then rejoin the main outward trail to repeat the first loop again. The finish is situated on the path towards the main car park instead of heading into the tree tunnel.
