Brett's parkrun review for July 1st 2023

53 of our runners took pary at 15 different events. I'll begin with some local runs.

A total of 72 runners took part at Great Salterns parkrun event #78

Paul Osborne was 5th male and near his best time here, and Lou Griffin was 2nd female. Libby Osborne was 5th female in a 1:02 PB and Julie 9th.

Nick Lay ran a great PB by 6 secs beating his previous best of August 2022. John Burchett was 2nd in the Age-Graded Percentages.

Course Description
An undulating, picturesque two-lap course which starts on tarmac and moves to trail paths via the Fairy Glen, caravan park and the Narnia Trail in Kilbroney Park, Rostrevor, near to Newry.. Sounds picturesque.

A simple, fast and flat 2 lap course mainly on grass with some tarmac and gravel pathways. Perfect for PBs. Unfortunately dogs are not allowed at this event due to narrow sections on the course making it unsafe, however we welcome our four legged friends to accompany our volunteers

This is not Southwick over Portsdown Hill or Southwick just west of Hove, it's near Trowbridge.
The course is on a 1868 metre lap and participents will run almost three laps anti-clockwise, reaching the finish line on a fast downhill stretch near the tea room and the car park, making for some interesting finishes. The Yorkes made their debuts here and are our 1st 2 here.

The course is at Exeter Quay & River Valley Park, Exeter. The course is run on a mixture of tarmac paths, gravel paths and grass. There is an extremely long description on their website which I won't copy here!

I ran for the 1st time here after our visit to Salisbury Plain the day before to see the Great Bustards. I managed to beat Alex Gannon's previous best BFC time.
The course is at Churchill Gardens, Salisbury. The course is run on a mixture of tarmac paths and grass. Starting by the parkour and basketball court, the spine path crosses over the bridge and straight down to the river. A sharp right along River Walk leads to the children's play park. All the way round the play park and follow the main path up to the College Roundabout corner. Follow the path towards the toilet block and right turn to head alongside the skate park. Over Bollard Bridge and continue along the river path with the river to your left until you reach the point that you first joined River Walk.
Complete 4 laps then turn right back up the spine path to where you first started where the finish will be clearly seen.

Course Description
Dunstable Downs parkrun is a one-lap moderately undulating course run entirely on grass and woodland trails. The car park is a short walk from the start and finish line.

Unfortunately dogs are not allowed at this event.
