Course Description
The course consists of an out and back around Hackney Marshes. From the start on the East Marsh do a clockwise loop of the marsh following the edge of the football pitches. After the third right turn head along the grass to the bridge that goes over the River Lea leading to the main North and South Marshes. Turn right when over the bridge and head along the tarmac path for 1300m before taking a sharp left turn onto the North Marsh. Head south around the edge of the North Marsh keeping the football pitches on your right for 900m until you get to the end of a set of 7 pitches; veer left and then turn right to re-join the tarmac path towards the start/finish. When you reach the bridge to the East Marsh turn left and then reverse your original route round the East Marsh to the finish.
The course has spectacular views of the Olympic site and a lovely stretch following the River Lea navigation channel. It is a flat course, the vast majority of which is run on grass, with the start/finish section located on the East Marsh just a short 5 minute walk from the car park that services Hackney Marshes centre.

Course Description (a very long description!)
The course starts at the lamppost by the first set of seats down from the bridge running over the river relief channel. The finish is on the raised bank opposite the at the same bridge (and is the same place as for the 4 lap Bromham’s Field course).
The start of the course broadly follows the previous Bronham Fields route current route, running approx. 600 metres and turning right to enter Bromham’s field before turning right again to complete one loop of the field running ANTICLOCKWISE. At the end of one loop participants leave the field and then then turn right and head on toward Duckes Meadow. Cross over the cycle path, along the footpath and bear left to cross a footbridge. After crossing bridge bear diagonally left following the footpath toward Salmon Pool Lane before then turning right toward the Leat path and then entering the University Field (Duckes Meadow).
Keep to the left-hand side and head along the fence (KEEPING OFF THE PITCHES) until the arrows pointing left out of the field and then left onto the Leat Path. Head along the path back toward Salmon Pool Lane before turning sharp left and retracing the route back along the and over the footbridge, and then head back along the footpath until taking a diagonal left turn to run on the grass bank for 400metres toward the finish line.
The course in a combination of tarmac footpaths, unmetalled footpaths, rough meadow and football pitch quality field.
Unfortunately dogs are not allowed at this event.

Jack debuted in 8th place. There were PBs for Linda Turner (1:32), Robert Marsh (54 secs) and Darren Linnington (20 secs and best anywhere since July 19) and I had 2nd best Age-Graded Percentage and was only 40 secs outside my PB so that counts as near!!
