Parke parkrun
A total of 119 runners took part at Parke parkrun event #404
Course Description
The start and finish area is on the private drive to Parke House, Bovey Tracy, Devon. After 90m head off right down the stoney path past the meadow, at the gate head straight across the crossroads and after passing the big wooden shed turn left up the STEEP HILL. Stay on this path until for about one kilometre and turn sharp right near the gate at the far end of the Parke property, follow the lower valley path for one kilometre back towards the cross roads. When you get back to the crossroads turn left which will take you over two bridges over the old mill stream and River Bovey.
On the other side of the second bridge continue straight ahead and take the path up onto the old railway line (Wray Valley Trail). Turn left along the trail for about 500m before taking a right up the HILL into the trees. At the top of the hill turn right and follow the path all the way round dropping back onto the old railway before turning left and following it for 200m before turning right back over the bridges to the crossroads. Turn left through the gate and back up the stoney path finish line.
Facilities
Parking costs £2 for three hours and £4 for all day for non-members. National Trust members park for free but should scan their membership cards at the machine. Please leave sufficient time to park, pay and walk to the start.
Please do not park on the road outside Parke as it is causing problems for local residents and passing traffic.

Heartlands parkrun
A total of 198 runners took part at Heartlands parkrun event #199
Course Description
The course is flat, mostly on tarmac, with a short section of stone/gravel trail. It comprises 3 laps. The start and finish are co-located, close to Heartlands (Red River) café. The laps take in the attractive ‘international’ garden areas, the adventure play area, the old mineworks, and the open paths of the site. The trail/mineworks section is slightly narrow. No point of the course is further than 400m from the start, and this together with the flat firm surface makes it ideal for novice runners or walkers.
Participants are welcome to bring buggies, however there are some narrow sections which may be difficult.

Local legend James Baker was 1st, gracing us with another appearance. The reason he was a little slower today? He only went and ran in a Southern League race at 2:30pm that afternoon!
Ashleigh Moira was 6th female finisher.
Paul Alland ran a huge 3:03 PB, Maria Tucker a 6 sec PB and Colin Southwell (29 secs, 2nd best here)and myself (3 secs) were just outside their fastest on the course.
In the Age Grades, I was 4th, John Burchett 6th and Richard Jones 8th.
