Thanks to the volunteers
We are very grateful to the volunteers who made this event happen: Julie ALLAN, Susan BURFORD, Eric DE GREEF, Jim HAILSTONE, Kathryn HARRISON, Lynne JOLLEY, Richard JONES, Jennifer LAZELL, Jen LITTLE, Edward MORRIS, Elizabeth OSBORNE, Paul OSBORNE, Stephen ROSE, Linda TURNER, Richard WALKER
Why not get involved and volunteer? This week (23rd) we are in need of marshals and scanners, also a token sorter after if you can spare the time or are not intending to run. Also post event close down involves going around the course to check nothing has been left after the tailwalkers( who usually collect most of the cones, signs and discs)

Southampton parkrun
A total of 877 runners took part at Southampton parkrun event #511
I made my debut at my 2nd biggest parkrun. To say I was pleased would be an understatement! Only Sonny Locke of current BFC members has now run faster here. My Age-Graded Percentage 80.47% was my highest ever beating my Southsea one from April.
I liked the course and should have got a little further forward at the slightly congested start.

The course is mainly flat, fast and on tarmac paths apart from two short stretches of firm gravel. From the start (green pin) 250m north-west of the Hawthorns Centre and Cafe, follow the path north-west (section of course marked in red on the map) across the open area of the Common and on into the trees. Turn right twice at the Bellemoor junction, and follow the path clockwise round the southern part of the Common, turning right again at the cross-roads and at the play area, to return to the start. Head north-west again, keeping to the right-hand side of the path if there are oncoming runners, and at the Bellemoor junction turn right twice to return to the cross-roads. This time turn left there and again at the top of the hill, to complete an anti-clockwise loop of the northern part of the Common (marked blue on the map). When you reach the Bellemoor junction for the third time, take the second left turn back tothe start, keeping to the right of the path if there are oncoming runners. At the start, turn right onto the gravel path and follow it for 250m to the finish (red pin).

Course Description (it's on Anglesey or Yns Mon in Welsh)
The route takes you through red squirrel inhabited woodland on a solid path running adjacent to the River Cefni. A short stretch of boardwalk traverses the river before the path continues through a more open environment to Llyn Cefni. Another boardwalk takes you across the weir and over to the edge of the lake before you loop back along the same path to the finish. There are two short hills in the Dingle/Nant y Pandy near to the start and finish of the course, with plenty of flat terrain in the middle in which to recover and enjoy the scenery! The start and finish is at the entrance to the reserve next to St Cyngar’s church.
Due to the nature of the course Dogs aren't allowed at Nant y Pandy (Llangefni) parkrun. It may also be unsuitable for buggies so please contact the team in advance for further information.
