Great Salterns parkrun

A total of 40 runners took part at Great Salterns parkrun event #97

Maria Tucker was 8th female finisher on a day when only a few Baffineers were present. John Bucketsofrain had the 8th best Age Graded Percentage.

We were joined again by some of Steve Bullock 's Grasshoppers after their hill training.

parkrun Zielony Jar

A total of 38 runners took part at parkrun Zielony Jar event #62

The location of the route is Park Zielony Jar, Osiedle Na Stoku 1, 31-752 Kraków . The length of the route is 5 km and its surface is cobblestone and asphalt. In case of bad weather, some parts of the route may be covered with mud, leaves or puddles.

Route description

The route is four laps leading through two parks "Zielony Jar" and the Pocket Park "Osiedle Na Stoku" along paved paths. The start and finish are in the same place, i.e. at the stage/amphitheater in the "Zielony Jar" park. The meeting point for participants is located near the start and finish line. The route profile is slightly demanding because the total elevation gain is almost 80 meters.

Severn Bridge parkrun

Jason made his debut and is now our speediest here at this unique course.

Course Description

Starting in Monmouthshire, Wales, on the Wye Bridge Section of the old Severn Bridge, the route is an out and back course over the beautiful Severn Bridge. The run takes you across the national border into England, and into the counties of Gloucestershire and Avon, taking in breathtaking scenery of Wales and England either side of the Severn Estuary, before bringing you back into Wales. Unfortunately dogs are not allowed at this event.

East Brighton parkrun

Another event#185 and a total of 75 runners took part at East Brighton parkrun event #185

I ran a 19:16 improvement in my PB in my new trails (after the disaster with the old ones). My previous run here was with Sally the day before the Marathon in 2019.

I also was in 6th place and had the 3rd highest Age Grade at this small, but friendly event, a bit like Great Salterns. In fact I only spoke to one lady before the run and she told me she'd run Great Salterns on GSR week and said we had the best marshals!

Course Description

The winter course involves 3x anti-clockwise laps of the park, incorporating the east terrace, football pitches and the cricket field.

From the start line we head past the café and turn left and descend the hill towards a hard right. Pass around the shrubs and drop onto the football pitches, complete a full loop of the pitches and climb back up to the cricket field hugging the bottom of the lowest terrace. We then perform our first switchback onto the lowest terrace, and another switchback in the trees onto the middle terrace, follow this round and back down hill towards the start line.

Repeat for 3 laps.
