- Bretts Parkrun Roundup

Brett's New Year's Day 2024 parkrun review

by Brett Rumfitt

parkrun and the 5k app do not provide a consolidated results for non-Saturdays, so I'm guessing at some of this. At Great Salterns we had 76 runners/walkers. Paul Osborne was 6th and not far off his fastest here. In the Age Grades, I was 3rd, Paul 6th and John Bucketsofrain 10th.

Paul Osborne 19:54, Brett Rumfitt 22:29, Alex Gannon 22:50 near his fastest here, Jason Smith 23:40, Eric De Greef 25:16, John Bucketsofrain 26:54, Julie Allan Fuller 27:13, 5th female, Libby Osborne 29:55, Paul Griffin 31:26, Kim Stroud 31;26, Geoff Newman 32:43, James Yorke 36:31, Helen Mayhead 46:38, Nikki Wright46:38 and Alex Yorke 54:46.

We are very grateful to the volunteers who made this event happen: Deborah BRIDGER, Kev BUDD, John BURCHETT, Math CHARLTON, Anwen DAVIES, Ian GREGORY, Louise GRIFFIN, Steve HOLDER, Lynne JOLLEY, Kristian LAW, Brett RUMFITT, Sally RUMFITT, Janet SAMPSON, Jason SMITH, Samuel WINTON

Why not get involved and volunteer? It's fun!

At Southsea to the strains of Daniel del Piccolo playing Auld Lang Syne on the bagpipes, they had 433 runners.

They included Ian Briscoe near his best in 21:59, Hannah Baldassarra 28:27, Nicola Carlile Chinnery 31:02, Hayley McMahon 33:30, Brenda Bradshaw 34:08, Steve O'Shea 34:09, Kam Fan 34:44, Tracy Strydom 36:50 and Robert Turner-diamond 41:47

Katherine Newell was among the volunteers.

At Fareham amongst 188 runners Robert Marsh ran a 2:41 PB in 25:19 and in a field of 229 at Salisbury, Becci Knowles is now our fastest female runner in 25:41.

Apologies for any errors and omissions as I'm sure there will be some others who ran at other events being away for New Year.
