Brett's parkrun review for 23rd March 2024

A total of 41 runners took part at Great Salterns parkrun event #118

Alex Gannon ran a PB by 27 secs in 3rd place (his 3rd fastest in any parkrun and all these 3 have been in 2024), John Bucketsofrain was 9th, Paul Ingleby 10th and Maria Tucker 4th female. Dean Rockett was near his recent best. Kim Stroud was 7th female running with son Brandon.

In the Age-Grades, John Bucketsofrain was 2nd, Maria Tucker 6th and Alex Gannon 8th.

The course is in Longford Park, Stretford, Manchester. The course is run on a mixture of tarmac paths, trail paths and running track. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud,

Course Description

Start on start/finish line of track, run a full lap of track anticlockwise, then a further 150m of track to exit at main gates.

Bear right, then go straight through the bollards and take a slight left along the path towards the Avenue

Turn left into the Avenue, straight down the Avenue to the turning point

Turn around the cone/marshal and head back up Avenue towards the playground

When Pet's Corner is on your right, be careful of the bollards ahead. Then run along the road to the left of the café towards the houses, minding the sleeping policemen

Follow the path clockwise to pass the adventure playground on your left, right around Disc Golf on your right

Take a left then a right to the path behind the stadium, taking a right at the bottom of this path to complete a second lap as above

After the second lap, turn left and left again then re-enter stadium and run 250m clockwise round track to finish on finish line

The event takes place here: Amsterdamse Bos, Bosbaanweg 5, 1182 DB Amstelveen. The course is a single lap, starting next to the ‘Speelweide’ (playground) and then leads through a wide lane. At the height of the ‘Grote Vijver’ the course turns left in the direction of the ‘Kleine Vijver’. It then loops back to the start of the course. The finish is slightly uphill to just before the Boswinkel.

Course Description

The course is 4 loops of the footpaths in Bartley Park, West Totton.

The event starts near the Bartley Park bandstand and skatepark. The start location can be found using what3words: ///tagging.elsewhere.division or “Bartley Park / Totton Skate park” on Google maps.

Starting near the skate park, head on the main path towards the Testbourne Play Area, at the T-junction turn left to go down hill and then turn right following the path into an area of woodland alongside Bartley Water. Head up the slope and follow the path to the right. Cross the main path into the skate park, turning along a gravel track then onto the tarmac to the first turnaround point. Repeat for the 2nd and 3rd lap, at the end of the 4th lap you will find the finish funnel on the left of the wide area before the toilet block.

Please note that due to the nature of our course canicross harnesses are not allowed.
