Brett's parkrun review for 13th April 2024, 38 runners at 11 events.

We begin close to home where I was RD and a total of 45 runners took part at Great Salterns parkrun event #121

Warren Barker ran his 250th parkrun and Nick Lay volunteered for the 25th time.

On a much drier course there were as you can see below top 10 finishes for Jason Smith, Robert Marsh, Geoff Newman, Nick Lay, Clive Tucker (Maria Tucker) and Olivia Scammell and Maria Tucker herself in the female finishers.

In the Age Grades, Maria Tucker was 5th highest, Geoff (Alison Newman) 7th, Jason Smith 9th and Clive 10th.

Clive's was a PB by 37 secs, a remarkable feat just 6 days after his 1st Marathon and Dean Rockett bettered his best by 1:06. Robert Marsh Geoff and Nick were near their fastest on the course

Mercede Alcina Pannozzo was back at parkrun for the 1st time in a while.

Course Description (tarmac & grass)

The course is a “three and a bit” clockwise loop of Wardown Park, run completely on tarmac paths. Meeting at the bandstand on the western side of the lake the start is a short walk towards the 1919 Drinking Fountain roundabout. The course follows the western side of Wardown Lake, up the slope and to the side and back of the museum, past the tennis courts, returning to the eastern side of the lake. Once across the bridge and roundabout it turns right then right again towards the Boathouse and the lake. After the third lap, the run finishes at the Summer House behind the museum.

Poole parkrun is flat, fast, scenic, fabulously well organised, and one of the UK's most popular courses. We have a nice wide start line on the grass field near Kingland Road play park, close to the car park at the Dolphin Leisure Centre.

Course Description (it's near Nottingham)

A two-lap course around the edge of Rushcliffe Country Park, followed by a short straight to the finish. The course consists of gravel paths and is generally flat, quick and ideal for runners of all abilities. We recommend regular road running shoes.
