Brett's parkrun review for 20th April 2024

An increased total of 72 runners took part at Great Salterns parkrun event #122. Is this because the course is drier now or due to Ian's great graphics?

The 1st thing I noticed was that the top 2 positions were both women, Emma Montiel (who ran in the Commonwealth games for Gibraltar in Glasgow 2014) and our Christine Mc who both recorded PBs. Christine's was by a huge 19secs and she was 5th in the Age-Graded Percentages.

Another PB was by Nick Lay by 1 sec!

Ian Briscoe was 8th male near his best here, and also near was Clive and Maria Tucker (10th female)

Stef Arnold was tailwalker and took part for the 1st time for ages, welcome back!

Issac & Ethan's Mum Carrie Richardson Haunstrup finally did what was being threatened recently and smashed her PB by 14 secs.

Fiona McKnight was 8th in the Age-Grades and it was good to see Chantelle Ash and Kirsty Jestins back.

Both Louise Griffin and Paul Griffin debuted here on the north Norfolk coast. They were celebrating their 200th parkruns. Louise Griffin was 4th female. They are our 1st runners here.

Course Description

This out and back route along wooded rides includes a 1.5 km clockwise loop at the midway point which takes in stunning views towards Weybourne windmill, the North Norfolk railway and breathtaking coastal scenery. The route starts and finishes close to the visitor centre, cafe, toilets and parking facilities. All the tracks consist of a firm base but may be muddy in places during wet weather, whilst the terrain is undulating with dips and climbs. Some participants will prefer trail running shoes. The route is marked by orange arrows and temporary signs, with marshals at key points.It's run in Sheringham Park (National Trust), Upper Sheringham, Norfolk, NR26 8TL on multi-terrain
