Brett's BFC Members parkrun review for 22nd June 2024

by Brett Rumfitt

I make it 43 members took part at 10 different events.

A good total of 104 runners took part at Great Salterns parkrun event #131

The locally famous James Baker paid us another visit ( his 14th ) and helped Jack Ingleby to 2nd place in a 4 sec PB. In the Age-Grades, John Burchett was 5th running with a returning daughter, Caitlin (1st parkrun for 2 years). Nick Lay and Alex Marathon were near their best times but Dean Rockett beat his by 9 secs.

Shane Grant who many know from the Wednesday groups in the past, ran a PB by 55 secs.

Thanks to the volunteers

We are very grateful to the volunteers who made this event happen: Paula BLAIN, Kate ENGLISH, Ian GREGORY, Alexander HALL, Jack INGLEBY, Lynne JOLLEY, Nick LAY, Helen MAYHEAD, Edward MORRIS, Brett RUMFITT, Janet SAMPSON, Carol SEYMOUR, Clive TUCKER, Maria TUCKER, Janice WELLSTEAD, Samuel WINTON

Why not get involved and volunteer? On 6th July we could do with another timekeeper, another scanner, marshals and pre and post event set up and close down.

Becci Knowles was 9th female finisher here in the Highlands. James Collier was th in a faster time than my current BFC record here.

The course is at the Speyside Way, Dalfaber Drive, Aviemore.

Course Description

This is an undulating out and back course on a scenic stretch of the Speyside Way. The surface is a gravel track and the area varies from broadleaved woodland at the beginning, to coniferous forest and then finally heather moorland.

The run brief will take place at the start of the track which leads away from the industrial estate. Participants will then walk (around 100m) to the start/ finish on the Speyside Way.

At the 2.5k turn bollard, take a second to look to the left to admire the mountain view over the Cairngorm National Park. After collecting your timing token, walk back towards the briefing point, where scanners will be located.
