Brett's parkrun review for 17th August 2024

I make it 38 members took part at 7 events.

154 took part at Great Salterns parkrun event #139

As Southsea was off due to the Rowing Regatta, we had a larger number than usual, quite a few first timers from there and elsewhere. It was our 5th highest attendance. Rich Harris ran his 100th parkrun and I ran my 400th (eventually with what seemed such a lot of effort for a slower time, but things are improving) and also my 1st in my new M65-69 age category. It was great to see so many there for whatever reason. We also got to meet Ed Morris who co-ordinates our volunteers (from Walsall!) Thanks Ed. Ir was also good to see Billy Jules Bilton from Hartlepool.

Jack Ingleby was 2nd and Julie Allan Fuller 6th female. Nick Lay was also near his best.

Course Description

Carlisle parkrun is usually an undulating multi surface 3 lap course. However during winter months we use our winter 5 lap course. Starting within the Manor grounds, a short gravel section leads you out to the beginning of the tarmac paths where you head for the centre of the park, a small roundabout. At the roundabout you run anti clockwise, taking the 4th exit down the tarmac path past the play park. At the bottom of this stretch, you turn left and run up towards the tarmac path that takes you back to the roundabout. That is one full lap. The finish line is situated back inside the Manor grounds on the gravel section.

Course Description

A 3 lap course starting close to car park and running the circumference of the park. Running mostly on surfaced paths with some sections on gravel. Route runs close to the river Stour so an alternative course may be used in wet weather. The course finishes by the old station close to the park café

Course Description

The course starts and finishes in the farmyard at Frogmary Green Farm. The first and last 300m are on tarmac roadway and the rest is around fields.

This is a muddy, multi terrain route. Trail shoes are advisable in wet conditions if you have them.

Unfortunately dogs are not allowed at this event.

Due to the terrain of the course participants may find that it's not suitable for buggies. Please contact the team in advance by email for further information before attending.

Please be aware that the event takes place at a working farm environment (with the equipment and aromas that this can entail!) - participants should contact the Core Team if they have particular concerns or sensory requirements before attending.
