- Bretts Parkrun Roundup

Brett's parkrun review for 31st August 2024

by Brett Rumfitt

A total of 69 parkrunners took part at Great Salterns parkrun event #141

Louise Griffin was 2nd female in a course PB of 12 secs (her best parkrun since September 2023). Nick Lay ran a great 21 sec PB which I was sure he'd do soon. Richard Walker was near his best on the course and his fastest here since May 2023. As with Louise Griffin it shows that after long injuries it can be possible to get back to our best, but it takes patience and dedication.

I also managed my best since pre-injuries.

Paul Ingleby and Jack Ingleby debuted here in Edinburgh near the Scottish Parliament and Arthur's Seat. It looks a spectacular but difficult course of 1 lap.

Jack Ingleby (who is also attached to City of Portsmouth AC as is his Dad) was 5th and 8th in the Age Grades. He takes our record from Fiona McKnight. As at 31.8.24 it was Paul Ingleby 's fastest parkrun since December 2018!

Course Description

A single loop on the closed road around Holyrood Park, starting next to St Margaret’s Loch. The surface is all tarmac. There is a steep 1.5km uphill near the start and a steep 1.5km downhill in the second half of the course.
