Brett's BFC Members parkrun review for 7th September 2024

I make it 44 current members ran at 8 events.

A total of 48 parkrunners took part at Great Salterns parkrun event #142

Our course record holder appeared for his th visit and duly came 1st. Paul Osborne was 2nd with myself a very pleased 6th, Nick Lay 8th and John Bucketsofrain 10th. Libby Osborne (near her fastest here) and Maria Tucker were 2nd and 5th female finishers respectively. In the Age-Graded Percentages, I was 2nd, Paul Osborne 3rd and John Bucketsofrain 4th. I think Jacko was 9th overall? GoodGym filled some of the Volunteer roles.

Here Jack Ingleby finished a great 5th, his fastest parkrun by 1 sec!

Christine was 1st female in a superb All parkrun PB by 29 secs!

Natasha Jackson (who used to run with my Buzzards group, and indeed along with Alanna Burchett came up with the name) was 4th female in an incredible 1:35 PB.

Paul Ingleby ran his best parkrun for over 5 years!

In teh Age-Grades, Amanda Simpson was 4th and near her best.

Course Description

The course is 4 loops of the footpaths in Bartley Park, West Totton.

The event starts near the Bartley Park bandstand and skatepark. The start location can be found using what3words: ///tagging.elsewhere.division or “Bartley Park / Totton Skate park” on Google maps.

Starting near the skate park, head on the main path towards the Testbourne Play Area, at the T-junction turn left to go down hill and then turn right following the path into an area of woodland alongside Bartley Water. Head up the slope and follow the path to the right. Cross the main path into the skate park, turning along a gravel track then onto the tarmac to the first turnaround point. Repeat for the 2nd and 3rd lap, at the end of the 4th lap you will find the finish funnel on the left of the wide area before the toilet block.

Please note that due to the nature of our course canicross harnesses are not allowed.

Eric De Greef was up in Newcastle-upon-Tyne for the Great North Run the following day. He is our 1st runner here, finishing behind a great named runner.

Course Description

The course starts and finishes in the middle of Denton Dene, north of Scotswood Sports and Social Centre and south of the bus terminus on Broadwood Road.

Participants head south from the start line broadly in an anti-clockwise direction back towards the start and finish line.

This is a two lap course mostly on tarmac paths up and down Denton Dene. There is a small section off path, running over some grass. Please be aware that the course is undulating and some of the paths are uneven. The northern end and southern end of the course each follow a two-way path so please keep to the right at all times.
