Course Description

An out and back course on Keswick Railway Path, from the bollards just after the old station to a turn-around at the iron bridge. The whole course is tarmac, quite flat for Keswick (!) and has great views of the river all the way. The last half mile should be really fast. Road running shoes are best suited.

Course Description

The course comprises a clockwise loop of Apex Park and an out-and-back section beside the River Brue and along a short section of the Esplanade. From the start behind Lizzies Kitchen, you follow a tarmac path through the park, with the lake on the left hand side. Shortly after the lake you turn right and follow cycle route 33 for 100 meters before making another right turn. This leads to the riverside path which you follow to the end before bearing left on to the Esplanade. A seating area on the Esplanade provides a turning point and you retrace your steps along the seafront and the riverside path. After 500m beside the river you turn left into the park and follow a tarmac path leading to the lake, now on your right, and the finish.

I was the 1st BFC runner to run here.

Course Description (It's at Pembroke Bay, Vale on the north coast not that near St. Peter Port)

The course is run on a mixture of compacted stone-dust paths and grass tracks and is undulating with no big hills but quite a few short ones. Starting on the footpath to the east of the Pembroke Bay car parks, this is a gently undulating and scenic two lap course.

The first section from the Start to the lower footpath at L’Ancresse is two-way, so it is important to keep to the left-hand side of the footpath to avoid collisions. The course then follows a clockwise route, initially on the coastal path.

Follow the coastal path for 0.8km to Stonecrusher before crossing to a grass track. Head up a gentle hill, turning left at the top past the WWII German bunker and left again to rejoin the footpath. Next, a right turn takes you onto another grass track which sweeps around La Fontenelle, giving a further chance to enjoy the sea views. The route then turns left, re-joining the footpath, crossing Longree before making a wide sweep over the Common with amazing views over L’Ancresse and Pembroke Bays, before dropping down, back to the two-way section.

Follow the coastal footpath once more, this time in the opposite direction, approaching the turnaround marker, which is clearly signposted, from left to right, for the second loop. Please stay on the left hand side of all paths and tracks to ensure you are in position to make the required turns and to allow others to pass safely.

After the second lap, continue to the finish through the finishing funnel which will be clearly marked and where the team will be ready to greet you.
