Brett's BFC Members parkrun review for 11th January 2025
I made it 40 members took part at 8 different events this week.
Beginning with the 3 most local events, total of 71 parkrunners took part at Great Salterns parkrun event #162
On a less muddy course, due to it being a lot colder, Yarian Slevin again ran a PB (4 of the last 6), this time by 16 secs and was 9th. Laura Burns ran a 3:03 PB in a rare appearance and John Bucketsofrain was 8th in the Age-Graded Percentages.
Mel Swan broke the female 35-39 course record.

Thanks to the volunteers
We are very grateful to the volunteers who made this event happen: Steve BARKER, Matthew FLEET, Ian GREGORY, Gillian HEATH, Jack INGLEBY, Lynne JOLLEY, Sinead MCCARTHY, David MOORE, Edward MORRIS, David RICHARDS, Brett RUMFITT, Carol SEYMOUR, Clive TUCKER, Maria TUCKER, Janice WELLSTEAD, Samuel WINTON
David Moore and Jen Stoneham of GoodGym both did some litter-picking too.
Why not get involved and volunteer? We again have just a few positions vacant for 18th January, when I will be RD again. Currently we need a token sorter for after the run, and maybe someone on close down, plus at least 3 more marshals. Please email the GS event team on the website to help.
A total of 492 parkrunners took part at Southsea parkrun event #519
Anthony Wood ran his 1st parkrun, Chantelle Ash her 1st since May 2024. A few of our runners sometimes do a hill session with the Grasshoppers before Saturday parkrun which is why some times may look slower than usual.
Katherine Newell was among the Volunteers.

Helen is our 1st runner here at Pittville Park.
Course Description
A three-lap course run mostly on tarmac. Starting by the Pavillion on the cycle path, head towards the back of the Leisure Centre keeping the grass on your right. Turn right at the end of the cycle path and then turn left when you reach the path around the lake. Follow this path clockwise keeping the lake on your right crossing a bridge. Bear right after the bridge and follow the path all the way to the other end of the lake passing the boathouse and crossing another small bridge with bollards. Turn right after this bridge and follow the path past the metal bridge on your right and then turn left onto the grass and head past the football pitch on your right to the southern perimeter of the park where you turn right onto the cycle path where you started. After the third lap turn left off the path and follow the stone path to the right of the playground and then onto the grass to the right of the basketball court after which turn left to the finish line on the grass banking behind the leisure centre.

Jason Smith debuted here and is our 1st. He was getting concerned he might miss out on his parkrun fix as plans A and B fell by the wayside due to the weather. He wasn't too excited by this course, though.
Course Description
The course is located in the grounds of Fulbourn Hospital. The course is four laps mostly run on grass with a short stretch of concrete pathway at the start and end of each lap and a further short stretch on a tarmac roadway about half-way round. The course makes use of a steady rise and fall in the landscape on each lap and might best be described as 'gently undulating.' The final lap continues to follow the route past the start point to finish outside the Resource Centre.
Unfortunately dogs are not allowed to participate with runners or walkers at this event. The only exception to this rule is when accompanied by an assistance dog.
