Brett's BFC Members parkrun review for 18th January 2025

We will begin as most weeks with our 3 nearest events. At a rough estimate I reckon 45 of us took part at 8 different events.

A total of 61 parkrunners took part at Great Salterns parkrun event #163

Thanks to the volunteers, of whom Lynne Jolley volunteered for the 100th time here in 163 events, despite being ill and undergoing treatment for a few months a while ago.

Why not get involved and volunteer? We are quire well off this week, although a couple more marshals would be appreciated. Thank you.

Jack Ingleby was 2nd and only 4 secs outside his course PB (eventually overtaken by the GS M35-39 record-holder. Paul Osborne was 3rd only 29 secs outside his best here, Paul Ingleby was only 33 secs outside his fastest here and Yarien Slevin was also close to his best. Libby Osborne as 4th female however smashed her PB by an incredible 1:14 and her All parkrun best by 50 secs. Maria Tucker was 9th female. Kev Aylward ran his fastest here since September 2023.

In the Age-Graded Percentages, Jack Ingleby was 1st and Paul Osborne 4th.

Amanda Simpson ran a superb time only 3 secs outside her October PB and was 1st in the Age Grades, over 80% which is classed as National Class! Christine Mc was 1st lady again and near her best. Anthony Wood ran a PB,

Katherine Newell volunteered as always. I have excluded some who ran who still have us on their parkrun profile but are not, as I understand, club members.

Course Description

Ballina Coast parkrun is a beautiful one lap course run in a clockwise direction following the Richmond River shoreline. Starting in the south eastern corner of Missingham Park. From the starting point participants run west along the path towards the Ballina Swimming Pool reaching the turnaround point and continuing back along the course, veering to the left along the path as you approach the start/finish line behind the skate park and over Missingham Bridge. Veering right at the second pathway over the bridge and continuing out to the marine watchtower turnaround point. Retracing your steps down toward Missingham Bridge. After crossing the bridge follow the pathway past the skate park and turn left back across the finish line

Course Description

A 2 lap course, starting adjacent to the car park, running along the grass, around the field and into the woods, returning out and onto the path. Two laps of a circular, anti-clockwise route around the main field and through the woods.

The course is primarily trail with some tarmac. The course is suitable for buggies however it is field based, so please be wary in poor weather.
