Why not get involved and volunteer? On 8th February we are pretty well off, although 2 more marshals would be useful.

Richard Walker Yarian, Jason Smith, Olivia Scammell, Maria Tucker and Louise Griffin were all top 10 although in a smaller field. Dean Rockett ran for the 1st time in 2025.

Yarian smashed his PB yet again by a huge 39 seconds.

Richard Walker was 2nd in the Age Graded Percentages, Yarian 5th, Maria Tucker 6th, and Jason Smith 8th.

Alex Yorke debuted here. Amazingly I still hold our record of 21:05 in 2023. Alex has the fastest female time at 38:53 and hopefully will be back running rather than walking soon.

The course is in Burgess Park, Camberwell, London and run on tarmac paths. There is a little evidence of the Old Surry Canal!

Course Description

We start in the gravelled area next to the tennis courts at the Camberwell New Road/Walworth Road end of Burgess Park. Please only congregate on the side closest to the tennis courts.

The first 1 km is a long straight, following the path of the Old Surrey Canal, under the underpass and the “Bridge to Nowhere”. Take the left turn at the marshal, and then go left again to join a straight path, past the Community Centre, through the “Valley” and onto the “Bench Turn”, where you’ll be directed to head towards the lake by a marshal. Follow the outside path alongside to the lake, up to the Old Kent Road entrance and “Tesco Turn”.

Here, take a sharp right and run through the wooded section, and turn onto the inside path of the lake. When you reach the top of the lake, go straight on, before bearing left and heading back the way you came originally, past the marshal at the “Bench Turn”. Take a right return to the first marshal, turn left and complete the hairpin at the far end of the Old Surrey Canal. Head back along the long straight, under the “Bridge to Nowhere” and through the Underpass. Shortly after the Underpass, take a left off the main path, before turning right onto the grass at the marshal and heading to the finish.

The course is almost entirely run on tarmac, except the final 80 metres. It’s very flat, barring a few short undulations at the Underpass and Tesco Turn. It’s buggy-friendly and dog-friendly too.

Course Description

The course starts opposite the Army Rugby Stadium on Queens Avenue (Aldershot) near the pedestrian crossing where the tarmac path leads towards the centre of the field. The course heads towards the edge of the sports fields near the Wavell School, then turns left and follows the boundary fence to the edge of the field. Going through a gap in the boundary fence, the course turns left and follows the pavement next to the A325 for around three quarters of a kilometre. Where the slip road off the Alisons Road slip road off the A325 starts, the course turns left and joins the Basingstoke Canal. Just before the canal goes under Queens Avenue, the course turns left again to rejoin the playing fields and then runs straight next to Queens Avenue, turning left just before the start for a second lap. On the second lap, carry straight on without turning left, staying on the right of the path to finish.
