Brett's BFC Members parkrun review for 1st March 2025
I made it 44 current members ran or walked at 9 different parkruns.
A total of 89 parkrunners took part at Great Salterns parkrun event #169
Yarian Slevin was near his PB and Billy Jules Bilton visited us again from Hartlepool on his way to Japan! I missed Billy again! Both Yarian Olivia Scammelland Maria Tucker made their top 10s.
1st male was local legend James Baker who ran his slowest on the course which was very wet. He must like it here as he's visited 18 times in his 418 runs, 4% in total. However, since GS started, those 18 have come in his last 150 runs, a higher 12%.
In the Age-Graded Percentages, John Burchett was 4th and Maria Tucker 7th.

Sean Reeve and James Yorke were near their best times, Katherine Newell was tailwalker, as many others had done up to 5 miles beforehand.
Paul Griffin tried in vain to get me to 21:45 but it was still my best here for 12 months. However, I was 9th, and Michael Rae 11th in the Age Grades.

Course Description
The parkrun course at Sherwood Pines Forest Park is 5k long and is made up of one anti-clockwise lap. The route is a combination of trail and compacted stone paths and park roads.
Please be aware that cyclists may be using designated cycle routes which cross the parkrun route at a number of points, and whilst marshals will monitor the crossing points, runners don’t have automatic right of way and should be vigilant.
The run starts a short way past the Visitor Centre and the Go Ape Tree Top Adventure Course. After a short straight of approximately 150m turn right along the forest road. After a further 500m the course reaches the first marshalled corner where you are directed left. Follow the yellow arrow signs, turning right after a 100m and then left up the hill at the end of the track. At the top of the hill a marshal will direct you left, follow this track for approximately 3km where it sweeps round to the right at the bottom of the hill and on towards a green metal barrier. Follow the yellow arrow sign round to the left, past another barrier and up to the top of the hill where a marshal will direct you left back towards the finish. Follow this for around 700m before finally turning right onto the same initial straight you ran along at the start. Follow this for around 150m to the finish.
Whilst the parkrun route is on parts of the marked cycle routes, cyclists are not permitted at parkrun. At 9am the parkrun route has been designated for runners, joggers and walkers. Any cyclists (and accompanying runners) will be asked to step away until the parkrun field is clear and will not be eligible for a result.
