Brett's BFC Members parkrun review 29th March 2025
A total of 119 parkrunners took part at Great Salterns parkrun event #173
Another high turnout as Southsea was off again and the event is also getting genuinely more popular.
Robert Marsh ran a 30 sec PB, Olivia Scammell was near her PB and ran her fastest here since October 2022. Alex Marathon was near his best time and Kevin Aylward ran his best since August 2023.

Course Description (grass and paved)
The course consists of an out and back around Hackney Marshes. From the start on the East Marsh do a clockwise loop of the marsh following the edge of the football pitches. After the third right turn head along the grass to the bridge that goes over the River Lea leading to the main North and South Marshes. Turn right when over the bridge and head along the tarmac path for 1300m before taking a sharp left turn onto the North Marsh. Head south around the edge of the North Marsh keeping the football pitches on your right for 900m until you get to the end of a set of 7 pitches; veer left and then turn right to re-join the tarmac path towards the start/finish. When you reach the bridge to the East Marsh turn left and then reverse your original route round the East Marsh to the finish.
The course has spectacular views of the Olympic site and a lovely stretch following the River Lea navigation channel. It is a flat course, the vast majority of which is run on grass, with the start/finish section located on the East Marsh just a short 5 minute walk from the car park that services Hackney Marshes centre.

A total of 228 parkrunners took part at Fareham parkrun event #409
I ran at Fareham for only the 2nd time. Last time was either the day before racing or at least taking it a bit easier, as it allowed me a 2:37 PB. However I was 5th in the Age Grades and it was my fastest since last May. Both Louise Griffin 20:51 and Paul Griffin 21:23 have run faster here.

A total of 295 parkrunners took part at Blaise Castle parkrun event #85
Becci Knowles debuted here and is now our fastest. Tracy Strydom held that role although she walked hers. I may well try this one when I go up for the Bristol Half in May. I lived about 5 miles from here for 15 years, yet never went here.
Course Description. The course is at Blaise Castle Estate, Bristol. The course is run entirely on trail paths.
A 2 lap course, starting adjacent to the car park, running along the grass, around the field and into the woods, returning out and onto the path. Two laps of a circular, anti-clockwise route around the main field and through the woods.
The course is primarily trail with some tarmac. The course is suitable for buggies however it is field based, so please be wary in poor weather.
