Eden Project parkrun

A total of 385 parkrunners took part.

Course Description

The course starts by the ‘Banana’ coach and car parks and skirts the top of the crater before descending into two and two-thirds anti-clockwise laps which zigzag inside the crater, passing around the Core and in front of the Mediterranean and Rainforest Biomes. On the final lap you turn right for the finish line when you reach the en-trance of the biomes.

Please keep any warmups to the car parks only.

Facilities

Toilets at the start and in the Link Building at the Finish, bike racks, luggage lockers, shop, cash machine.

Entry to Eden Project

All spectators will be required to pay to enter the Eden Project site. Once the event has started, spectators can enter by following the usual spectator route and paying at the entrance. Participants are allowed free re-entry to the Eden Project site up until 10:30am. After this time, participants will have to pay to gain entry.

Gordon Scruton and Becci Knowles both debuted and I don't think they expected to see each other there! We have 13 of us Baffineers who have run here with Paul Griffin (20:43) & Ashleigh Moira (25:45) our record holders.

Course Description

The course starts opposite the Army Rugby Stadium on Queens Avenue near the pedestrian crossing where the tarmac path leads towards the centre of the field. The course heads towards the edge of the sports fields near the Wavell School, then turns left and follows the boundary fence to the edge of the field. Going through a gap in the boundary fence, the course turns left and follows the pavement next to the A325 for around three quarters of a kilometre. Where the slip road off the Alisons Road slip road off the A325 starts, the course turns left and joins the Basingstoke Canal. Just before the canal goes under Queens Avenue, the course turns left again to rejoin the playing fields and then runs straight next to Queens Avenue, turning left just before the start for a second lap. On the second lap, carry straight on without turning left, staying on the right of the path to finish.

Alex Gannon (22:29) & Becci Knowles (28:29) are our fastest.

Great Salterns parkrun

A total of 50 parkrunners took part on a slower course than recently.

Both Yarian Slevin and Alanna made their respective top 10s. Yarian Slevin was also 8th in the age grades. Lynne Jolley (usually Lynne Jolley's Lookout) volunteered as tailwalker and this completed her 600th volunteering stint. Thanks to all the volunteers

Fordingbridge Recreation Ground parkrun

Course Description

The course is mainly flat and comprises four laps on a mix of gravel and tarmac, and a short grassy section, around the perimeter of Fordingbridge Recreation Ground. Part of the course enjoys lovely views as it runs alongside the River Avon.

The pre event brief takes place near the basketball court, with the start on the path between the skate park and the entrance, and the finish on the grass near the basketball court
