Brett's BFC Members parkrun review for 10th January 2026

Great Salterns parkrun

A total of 44 parkrunners took part. A smaller total than recently. Matt Perkins, Gordon Scruton & Richard Walker made the top 10 with Richard's son Jasper running an excellent 1:26 PB. In the Age-Grades, Richard Walker was 10th but John Bucketsofrain 1st!

Course Description

2 laps of a multi terrain course running around the perimeter of the fields along the coast, starting and finishing in the same area close to the entrance of the field on Cotsford Lane.

Facilities

Access to the local beach is 250 yards along the main track. There are no toilet facilities available on site. Unfortunately there is no café close to the parkrun route, a Costa is located in Peterlee approx. 2.5 miles away and a Starbucks at Dalton Park 7 miles away.

Course Description

This spectacular harbourside 2 lap course starts on the wooden boardwalk at South-western side apron of Pirrama Park. The course heads northeast along the wharf before turning in the north eastern section of Pirrama Park. The course then heads south along the shore before turning on the foreshore just before the Anzac Bridge and back towards the start. The course is repeated for a 2nd lap, but on the return finishes on the grass near the start.

Course Description

Two laps where each lap includes a loop around the lake and then following a path out and back, with a final third loop of the lake to the finish, all on permanent surfaces. Please keep to the right on the paths, and to the left whilst going round the lake.
