Southsea parkrun

A total of 614 parkrunners took part.

Hattie Locke was 2nd female and near her best here, also near his fastest were Ian Briscoe, Yarian Slevin, Steven Parker and Carrie Richardson Haunstrup. I had the 11th best Age Grade. Best of all was Maria Tucker who PB'd by 16 secs.

Stamford Park parkrun (Stalybridge)

Course Description

The course comprises a short run out, two laps and a short run back.

Starting at the path next to the football pitches the course follows a path around the lake, up steps, around the top fields and back down around the opposite side of the lake x 2. There is a short run back which includes 50 yards along Darnton Rd to the finish line which is 200 yards past the start line.

The majority of the course is off road on undulating ground with some patches of mud after rain but paths have been resurfaced recently and most now have tarmac or hardcore surfaces. However, a few parts of the course are uneven and stony and may make it harder for people with buggies & pushchairs - please contact the team in advance for further information.

Haigh Woodland parkrun (Wigan)

A total of 288 parkrunners took part.

Libby Osborne and Paul Osborne debuted and are our 1st runners here. Paul was 5th.

Course Description

Starting near the children’s play area, the course heads out past the crazy golf and onto the woodland paths. Following the paths the course crosses the miniature railway twice. You then come off the woodland path, turning left onto the main disused driveway. This is a downhill section, keep going over the canal bridge then turn left just after the pig pen. You are now back onto woodland paths that can get muddy, but it is beautiful and fun. As you come out of the woods, you cross the driveway and back into the woods on the opposite side. Here is where the course gently starts an incline. When you emerge from the woodlands, you turn left back onto the driveway, and up back over the canal bridge, this time stay left to follow the woodland path back up the hill. This path then crosses the driveway, where you go back along the path you took out for the first 1k, however, as you get to the top, you take a slight right, then left, to finish on a straight. The course is challenging, fun and rewarding, set in beautiful surroundings with lots to see en route.

Richard Walker was 1st! for the 2nd time I think. Ashleigh Moira 4th, was 2nd female and ran a 2:03 course PB paced by Paul Griffin, who was 5th. Geoff Newman and Caitlin Burchett also made the top 10, as did Cathy Willatt as 10th female. John Bucketsofrain had the 10th best Age Grade.
