Brett's BFC Members parkrun review for 2nd May 2026

Richmond parkrun (Surrey)

A total of 626 parkrunners took part.

Robert ran here again and still holds our record 24:49.

Course Description

Volunteers, parkrunners & parkwalkers gather at the briefing stump in Richmond park just inside Richmond gate. The first timers welcome takes place near the finish area at 8:45. At 8:50 participants gather at ‘the stump’ for the pre-run briefing before heading to the start funnel.

The single lap route starts close to Bishops Gate near Bishops pond, heading in a south westerly direction towards the main road. Turning left onto the tarred path and proceeding in an easterly direction down Sawyers Hill. When the path meets the newly closed road, turn Left at Sheen Cross making your way towards Sheen Gate. Before Sheen Gate, turn left and re-join the Tamsin Trail. Proceed in a northwesterly direction up the Tamsin Trail until the finish which is where the Tamsin Trail reaches Sawyers Hill. The route is entirely hard packed or tarmac paths.

Jack Ingleby was 2nd (beaten by a PB from the winner), near his fastest and also 2nd in the Age Grades. Yarian Slevin was 4th & 8th in the Age Grades, I was 9th (Age Grades). Cathy Willatt (I nearly missed you as you haven't put Baffins as you club on your profile) was near her best.

Course Description

The course starts counter-clockwise. After the first corner, you veer left and go up a short incline. Turn left at the bottom of the hill, then after about 250m you turn right to rejoin the main path. Two and a half clockwise laps return you to the finish, which is within 100m of the start. To make it easy to remember how far you've got to go, there's a small roundabout about three-quarters of the way round the course - go round this three times.

The course is not suitable for double buggies due to narrow path widths.

Course Description

Peckham Rye parkrun is a 3 lap anti clockwise course, entirely on tarmac is mainly flat and therefore a potential PB course

The start & finish are located close to the Colyton Road entrance of the park.

This scenic course takes you over 2 bridges along the pond keeping the black metal fence on your left before turning right running past the bowling green and around the oval gardens.

Centre Vale parkrun

A total of 168 parkrunners took part.

Louise Griffin was 3rd Female at this event in Todmorden, somewhere that was right on the Yorkshire/Lancashire border. In fact until 1888, the Town Hall straddled the border.She takes our best time from 26:33 by Becci Knowles. It is now firmly West Yorkshire. More trivia: it once had 6 railway stations which is unusual for a small town. All but 2 are now closed including one called PORTSMOUTH!

Course Description

Starting in the old coachyard (the courtyard behind the statue of John Fielden) head down to the statue and turn left onto the main path. The course runs clockwise past the yellow barrier, behind the bandstand then to the left of the children's play area and into the woods. When coming down the hill out of the woods there is a sharp turn up behind the memorial gardens and around the tennis courts. When back on the main circuit this lap is repeated twice more. After completing 3 laps when emerging from the path from the tennis court turn left again to the bowling greens for the finish.
