- Bretts Parkrun Roundup

parkrun Review for Saturday 26th November 2022

by Brett Rumfitt

For new members (welcome!), this is my weekly review of the previous week's parkrun results. I use their stats and other nuggets of knowledge I may have, and also give some course descriptions. I only include those who have Baffins Fit Club as their parkrun club, although if I know of any others who may have two or even no parkrun registered club I will try to include them.
We begin at our local event that many of our club helped set up and continue to support by volunteering. The first male and female finishers are always included for comparison.
A total of 60 runners took part at Great Salterns parkrun event #45Well, the first female was actually a Baffins runner! Well done to Christine Mc on her first place in her debut run here. She has also finished first at Aberbeeg and Newport parkruns. Louise Griffin has 'won' 5 times here, Jo Wilkins and Kim Stroud once each.I was in the top 10 with Christine Mc. Julie Allan Fuller, Olivia Scammell and Fiona Cfb were 4th, 7th and 10th females respectively.A few speedies were seen for the first time, maybe put off by a lot of shingle on Southsea Promenade.
Olivia Scammell, Emily Smith (Jason Smith) and Darren Linington weren't far off their best times here even though it was very muddy in places and the grass long and wet.In the Age-Graded Percentages, I was 1st, Christine Mc 8th and Jason Smith 9th.

A total of 151 runners took part at Clair parkrun event #422. The event takes place at Clair Park, Perrymount Road, Haywards Heath, West Sussex, RH16 3DN. The course is four and a half clockwise laps using most of the perimeter pathway of the park. The whole of the course is on tarmac except for the finishing funnel. The start is towards the top of the main pathway through the centre of the park. The course heads up the hill for approximately 60m before turning right for a clockwise half lap of the perimeter of the park. The 4 full laps of the park begin at the bottom of the hill on the west side of the park next to the cricket pavilion and this is also where the finish is located, with the funnel running off the path onto the cricket outfield. The course is undulating with the finish being much lower than the start, so more downhill than uphill. Please note that DOGS are NOT allowed at this event as the course is too narrow in places to accommodate them and runners.
