06/10/18 - Southsea Parkrun 5th Anniversary and 14 years of Parkruns!

Good evening here is your weekly dose of parkrun report! I will start fittingly at Southsea where they celebrated their 5th anniversary, together with the 14th anniversary of the first parkrun in Bushy Park. What a difference it has made to many of us and running in general, making it so much more available to all.

A total of 384 runners took part at Southsea parkrun event #263

Emma Jolley was 1st lady and first in the age-graded times. Dan Slayford was first male and first overall too! (Dan's 2nd best time here) A Baffins Double First! Nikki Tout ran her 3rd PB in a row, another 0:03 off, Alex Yorke ran her 2nd fastest, and Ellis Whitcher her best since April. Alanna Burchett ran her 2nd best also making 3 BFC women in the top 10. Monday's running in my group is paying off maybe Alanna?? I think there might be a couple of other newer members who aren't registered under Baffins at parkrun. Sorry if I have missed you. You can add us on your profile to make it easier. Please let me know if I have missed you off.

Victoria Parsons made her debut.

Some were taking it a bit easier with various races the following day and many took the opportunity to volunteer including Alice Bird, Dan Slayford, Fiona Cfb, Kev Budd and Robert Turner-diamond. Thanks, as ever to you all.

Afterward many of us went to Rocksby's Restaurant for tea/coffee/bacon sandwiches etc. This will be the last time for a few months as they are undergoing a refit. They had better not stop doing bacon sarnies if they make it too upmarket!

Parkrun have to have a designated cafe so for the next few months we will be using the Deep Blue on South Parade Pier and Kev Budd assures me they will start doing bacon etc. as well as their fish menu. It appears that they open at 8:00am so 1 hour earlier than Rocksby's, so making a pre-parkrun tea/coffee (and wee) a possibility!

A report on the RNLI 10k/Pieces of 8 and other races last weekend will appear in the next couple of days I hope, and Matthew Hedley is going to work on a blog including the previous week's Ageas Bowl 10k and Windsor Half. I can assure you there were some fantastic performances form loads of our runners in the last fortnight.

Cheers, see you at Southsea on Saturday hopefully.
