parkrun review for 4th January 2020 (plus New Year's Day)

Local Great Britain runner Alex Teuten smashed the course record with 14:42!!! Paul Griffin ran a 0:10 PB on his 100th parkrun. I could not stay with Paul although my aim was to pace him. I only caught up near the end with a massive effort. I am proud to have helped a bit. Martin Biddle ッ ran a 0:07 PB and Kevin Friery ran his 4th PB here in a row, another 0:06 off and 0:56 in the 4 weeks. There wer also some times recorded just off their best by Sonny Locke, Jason Smith, Richard Stevens, Shelley Locke, Ian Briscoe and Ricky Smith. It was good to see rarer parkrun appearances by Jackie Goddard, Maxine Bailey and Cat Underwood. Emma Jolley was 8th, I was 14th and Michael Rae 19th in the age-graded times. Fiona Cfb, Verity-Jayne Walton, Andy Seek, Martyn Threader and RD Kev Budd were among the volunteers.
Also on 1st January Matt Standen ran 30:34 at Lee on Solent.
Many did the New Year's double and at QE Sonny Locke ran a QE PB by 0:44, Rebecca Niles by 2:54 and Richard Stevens also was not far off his PB for the 2nd time in the day. Quite a few were debuting at QE and again I was surprised some had not run this course before in a parkrun. Here are the results.

During the New Year period Becci Knowles, Sarah Spragg and Nikki Tout all ran their 50th parkruns.
On 4th January, a total of 244 runners took part at Victoria Dock, East London event#84. Rob Scammell was back to what is now his home run.

A record total of 620 runners took part at Southsea parkrun event #329 and that's without another load of Baffins Runners who were otherwise occupied on Great Salterns.
Owen Marshall ran a good time and there were PBs for Kevin Rowsell 0:02, David Sharp 0:13. There were fast runs by Steve Cross ( 28th in age-graded times) and Rebecca Niles. We also welcomed back Alanna Burchett, Catherine Redmond and Stephanie Lowry. Volunteers included Loisa Hayward, Alice Bird and Katherine Newell
