parkrun review Saturday 30th October 2021

by Brett Rumfitt

Hi there, here's your parkrun review from Saturday 30th October 2021.

A total of 155 runners took part at Jersey Farm parkrun event #82

Andy and Martyn continue their quest to run parkruns beginning with all the letters of the alphabet. They didn't need to go by air though, or ferry as Jersey Farm is near St. Alban's and is run on a mixture of grass and bridleway. Rebecca Niles is still our fastest runner here.

A total of 245 runners took part at a very blowy Southsea parkrun event #353. It had been wet but was mainly ok for the run. The South-westerly meant most were 1 to 2 minutes slower than usual. However, Damien O'Neill still reduced his PB by 8 secs. Michael Rae and Dave Rees-Whelan were 4th and 5th respectively in the age-related grades. Billy Jules Bilton and Katherine Newell were among the volunteers.

I was a bit careful as I'd had 2 cramps cycling down but all seemed ok after. Probably a schoolboy error in that I did not drink enough after 3 ales the night before!

Well done everyone and please think of volunteering if you are injured or racing the next day. You still can join us for coffee/tea after of course. In fact some volunteering roles mean you can also run.
