- Bretts Parkrun Roundup

parkrun review Saturday 5th March 2022

by Brett Rumfitt

A total of 776 runners took part at Southampton parkrun event #431. This was the 2nd largest parkrun after Bushy and usually tends to be most weeks. If Sonny Locke had run that time at Great Salterns for instance, he would have been in the top 10! He is still our 2nd fastest ever on this course.

Meanwhile a large total of 406 runners took part at Southsea parkrun event #371

This was Ian Briscoe 's 3rd best here only 11 secs outside his best. Paul Harrison ran his best here since the dreaded lockdown on 14th March 2020. Keith Caunt ran his fastest of 2022 as did Fiona Cfb. I omitted to mention that Robert Turner-diamond last week ran 34:00, his best since January 2020.

Michael Raeran his best this year and was also 5th in the Age-Graded times.

I am now the proud holder of our fastest run here on a revised course from the usual winter one as some parts near the skatepark were too wet. There were twisty tarmac paths and grass sections around football pitches which became trickier on each of the 4 laps. A well-run and friendly parkrun with 2 lady RDs for International Women's Day. Annoying the guy who was just in front of me was in my age group (so I was 2nd) but looked younger. I don't think I could have beaten him though walking 2 days in the area had made my legs a bit heavy.

I was 10th with 7th best Age-Graded time.
